Ingredients: Fresh Potatoes
(refrigerated)
Instructions: This remedy has been in our family for over a hundred years
that I know of. From one side of the family it came from the mountains of
South Carolina. On the other side of the family, it came from settlers of
Oregon. It works best if the potatoes are refrigerated, since this cools
the
burn as well but this is not absolutely necessary. In our family we learned
to make a poultice
of scraped potato. To make it, cut the potato in half lengthwise. With a
teaspoon, soup spoon or table knife scrape the potato firmly making a mass
of pulp. Put this on a clean cloth wet with cold water. Bind in place loosely.
When the poultice begins to warm, make a new poultice using cold potato
and cool wet bandages. My mother was cooking split peas in a pressure cooker.
Not realizing
the steam vent had been plugged by the peas, she thought the pressure had
gone down completely. When she opened the top, a super-heated mass of peas
exploded all across her abdomine. She was treated with the potato poultice
for four days, changed about every four hours. The severe blistering subsided
within the first 24 hours. Within a week, the burned area was just a slightly
pink mark on her skin. By three weeks you could not see the burn at all.
One evening, my daughter pulled a pan of boiling water out of the microwave
when she was about 7 years old. The microwave was above head high for her.
The pan slipped from her fingers pouring boiling water down her arm,
side of her neck and abdomine. I treated her the same way my mother taught
me. I changed the poultice every three hours. She was able to sleep comfortabley
through the first night and each thereafter and had no scarring.

Ingredients: Apple Butter
(homemande is best)
Instructions: Very effective on ANY burn (sunburn, iron, fire, etc.). I
sunburn very easily and very bad. As I child I would frequently burn bad
enough to be on the verge of sun-poisoning. This remedy came passed down
through my mother's family and is a life-saver!!Homemade AppleButter works
best. Place directly onto burn, you may want to heat in microwave if it
is refrigerated, BUT VERY
LITTLE!!!! The heat from the burn will dry the applebutter, especially on
a large surface, so keep moist with wet cheesecloth, towels, etc. Leave
on until it can be wiped off with little or no pain.
May take up to an hour, depending on the strength of the applebutter-- not
sure what in it makes it work. You will still remain red in most cases,
but pain-free & I personally have never blistered!

my thumb- enough for it to blister right away- I put yellow mustard on it-
let it dry and there is no blister! I was amazed.

Ingredients: Mustard
Instructions: Just spread regular mustard on a burn. Let dry. Use more as
needed. My husband used to work in a pizza shop and one of the other workers
closed his arm in the oven door. He put mustard on it and it took the pain
away and he doesn't have a scar! I've used mustard on various burns...curling
iron, hot pan, etc.

Ingredients: Oil Of Oregano
Instructions: put a few drops of Oil of Oregano on the burn....takes
the heat away....you can find it in about any health food store....is also
good for a number of other things as well....colds, bronchiotus, canker
sores, etc...
My husband is a fast food manager and this is what they do at his restaurant. One night when I burned myself while cooking, he spread yellow prepared mustard on my hand and wrapped my hand with a paper towel to keep me from getting mustard on anything. Within minutes the sting was soothed. I kept reapplying the mustard when it had dried out until the sting was completely gone. Only took a few hours before I felt as if I had never been burned. Also, my grandmother would soak a minor burn in apple cider vinegar to take the sting out.

I am a waitress in a busy restaurant and we are always getting
slight burns from hot plates and coffee pots etc. One day I burned my hand
and someone told me to put sour cream on it. Instantly the cream cooled
my hand and the burn was gone !

Ingredients: use baby ambesol or regular ambesol
Instructions: use baby ambesol or regular ambesol on an open wound or
burn. works wonders. my daughter had a blister from boiling water i used
toe nail clippers to cut the blister open . leaked all the fluid out and
then applied the numbing ambesol gel. 5 minutes later she was laughing
and playing with the dead skin that was left over from the blister. once
she was settled down,i gave her a children's tylenol to help ease the
pain before the ointment wore off. i've used it on numerous cuts also,
works great.

The absolute best burn remedy
is a bathtub full of St. John's Wort infused water. This will cool
your burn and leave your skin smooth, without irritation.

Burns- severe burns( even eye burns from welding) shred a raw ash potato and apply directly to wound ( or eyes, being closed) apply dressing to hold it into place and it will draw out all the heat and allow it to heal quickly......can also be used for sunburns ...just cut a potato into quarters and rub gently over sunburn..will also draw out the heat ..

Ingredients: Honey
Instructions: I saw in an article a couple of years back how a burn hospital
was testing honey in place of potato slices for their burn patients. Well,
two days after that, I accidentally grabbed a the handle of a hot pan that
had just come out of the oven. I new immedatly this burn was going to be
very bad. I decided to put honey on it,and then I wrapped it in a gauze
bandage. I replaced the bandage the next day and after day three, there
was no swelling, or blisters and even better, there was no scarring. I have
tried this remedy for everything from hot oil slpashes to sunburns and I
swear that honey works miracles.

After years in the Boy Scouts and many sun burns, I have one thing to say
about any burns. Don't use butter! The oils hold in the heat and cause the
burn to cook the deep tissue of your hand.I do recommend the use of Aloe
Vera or Vinger.

USA - old waitress remedy
Ingredients: one egg
At my waitressing job we had a difficult coffee pit and many of the girls
would get burned taking the grinds out of the pot.
We would end up putting our burned hands in buckets of ice water...but as
soon as you took your hand out of the ice it would hurt again...we even
tried pain medication sprays, but same thing, two seconds later we would
be in pain again..
until an older waitress showed us one day to seperate out an egg white....spread
egg white on burn and let dry....it feels cool as soon as it goes on and
by the time it is dry the sting from the burn almost
completely gone.

Ingredients: comfrey root
Dry comfrey root: 1/4 cup of dry comfrey root in 2 cups distilled (or at
least pure water). Boil down to slimey liquid. Cool
and apply toburns, including sunburn. Fresh comfrey root: dig and clean
thoroughly with pure water and brush. Either boil down as above or put througha
juicer with enough pure water to come through. Comfrey is high in
allontoin, which is thick and slimey containing components that help thecells
heal. My daughter's burn from hot oil healed without a scar. I, also, put
aloe and vitamin E on her burn.

One Egg
Take the film from the inside of the egg, and put it on the burn, let it dry then peel off the film and the burning will stop. Do this for a couple of days.

Apply a washcloth or paper towel soaked in vingegar to the burned parts of your body...works great! It is supposed to help to keep you from peeling, as well.
