As an opener,

PIZZA PROBLEM

Susan and Lynn own a pizza parlor and are trying to figure out the prices
to charge. They agree that the 12" pizza should cost $8.00, but they
disagree on what to charge for the other sizes.

Lynn thinks the 6" pizza should cost $4.00 and the 18" pizza should cost $12.00.

Sue thinks the 6" pizza should cost $2.00 and the 18" pizza should cost $18.00.

Explain what each woman is thinking

Activity

Students will create their own pizza using choices of toppings. They will be able to "order" their creation from the Internet and see their creation. They will use their order to calculate the area of various size pizzas, determine the "better buy", cost per topping. Students will also have to use research skills to answer questions pertaining to the Pizza Home Page.

I thought we could also research prices for the same pizza's at our local stores as well to do some price comparisons. It might also be interesting to know if chain pizza places are the same price bicoastally.

*******************

Closure:

Pizza is bought with the pizza that is the cheapest price in the local area and everyone has a pizza party.
