More Insect Bites

Name: Martha
Country_of_Remedy: U.S.A
Ingredients: Australian Tea Tree Oil 100% OR Icthammol Ointment 20%
Instructions: We had our first experience with a brown recluse spider bite when my son was younger. 9 times out of 10, you will not know you\'ve been bitten by one until several days later. You may THINK you\'ve been bitten by an ant at first or stung. As it begins to swell...you will notice the round tip of puss on the head of it. And it will get angrier as time passes. Brown Recluse Spider bites cause \"tissue death\" under the skin. It will eat muscle and flesh and the sooner you start treatment...the better. I was recently bitten by one on my abdomen. I didn\'t even realize it was there until a few days later when it had begun to itch somewhat, then I took notice to it when I\'d stepped out of the shower to dry off. We recognized it\'s pattern right off, having seen it before THREE times with my son. We went to the store and bought some Australian Tea Tree Oil AND Ichthammol Ointment-20%. You can ask for this ointment from your pharmacist. They keep it behind the counter in most drug stores. Both of these work very well. First...you want to clean the wound or bite with Peroxide. Tear a cotton ball in half and put the tea tree oil on it. Place the cotton ball over the bite and place a band-aid over it to keep it in place. You can do this before bed or when you get up. The next day....you will notice the pus head on the top. The tea tree oil will start drawing the infection out. It looks nasty TRUST ME!! You will have to squeeze as much pus out of the head of it as you can without squeezing too hard. Then repeat the tea tree oil steps until you can see that the wound is looking better. It will take about three days of doing this and you will see the swelling start coming down. Icthammol Ointment 20% works well also. It smells like tar and it IS black and will stain your clothing. So keep a light covering over it...a bandaid will work. Put a good coat of this ointment on the wound...a good dab of it will do. Rub it on with gloved fingers or a Q-tip. Just make sure you keep the wound clean. Wash your hands before you try to clean the wound. The last thing you want is a secondary infection or staph. The first time this happened to us, our son had to have surgery on his arm, because at that time, we did not know any treatment options and THEN we didn\'t know it was a spider bite. If you have allergic reactions to insect bites...especially brown recluse spider bites.... then please do not take any chances..go see your doctor. Everyone KNOWS what their limits are. If you begin to run fever after treatment...go see your doctor!! We learned about this treatment through others who have been bitten by this spider and we\'ve never had to go to the hospital with it since. But what may work for some..may not work for others who may be MORE allergic. I also took Benedryl for good measure and took Ibuprofen also for inflammation. I hope this will help ANYONE who has to go through this experience. It sure helped OUR FAMILY that is around wood all the time. GOOD LUCK!!

Recently we received a spider bite (unknown spider) while working outside. and not have allergic reactions to every insect bite. Symptoms range (every time) from red, swelling, sometimes itching and tender) at the bite site; and the most severe reaction is closing of the throat (like having swallowed a hard candy that is stuck). The air passages are clear but the throat closing is severe and lasts for 1-2 hours. Benedril helps but does not cure it.

Ingredients: Vitamin B1 250mg to 500mg
Use common sense based on your body size and weight Instructions: Take the vitamin thirty minutes to an hour before going outside. The chiggers, ticks, mosquitoes, and gnats don\'t like you when you take this vitamin. You may have heard of people using brewers yeast to ward off pests. I researched the active ingredient in brewer\'s yeast and it is B1. The yeast tastes so nasty, I opted for the B1.

We were at a family reunion and I was offering the vitamins to family members. They thought I was nuts and declined. My family took the B1 and around dusk, we were all standing outside talking. The family was being eaten alive by the biting gnats. My family didn't get one bite. The pests stayed far away. I can't claim that it will work on pesky relatives. Ha.

will stop the pain and actually really shorten the healing process...

As a child if we were at home we used a baking soda paste and let it dry on the bite, that worked.
If outdoors we put mud on the bite and let it dry, that worked.
Now I keep a first aid kit in my house and car. Both have a small bottle of "Sting Kill" that works even better

Ingredients: baking soda, water
Instructions:
Mix baking soda and just a little water to make a thick paste. Apply to the area of the bite,
and you can put a bandage over it if need be to keep the paste on. I had a spider bite that just kept getting worse and worse until I thought I would have to go to the
doctor. What ever it was, it was poisonous. I applied the baking soda paste. For about 30 minutes after applying, the bite area started itching like crazy. This is because it was drawing the poison out. Do this several times a day, and if you are not gettingbetter by the next day, then you should see your doctor. Mine was dried up by the next day and was healing.

Country of Remedy: Texas (we were our own country once)

Ingredients: baking soda
vinegar
small dish
paper towel or washcloth (optional)
Instructions: Don't put meat tenderizer on a sting. Though this may provide temporary relief from itching and swelling, there are better
methods available. Meat tenderizer contains enzymes designed to dissolve the fiber structure of muscle tissue and may permanently damage nerve tissue, resulting in loss of sensation if used repeatedly in one area.We mix baking soda and vinegar in a small dish and soak the sting area
in the bubbling mixture (the chemical reaction helps to pull bee stingers out and the vinegar helps to neutralize the wasp venom, while baking
soda helps to neutralize bee venom (acid vs alkali)). Alternatively, create a compress in a washcloth or paper towel with these ingredients
and apply immediately. This has worked best for bee stings. We had honey bees living in our eaves and spent two years occationally stepping on bees in our living room. The mixture worked every time. The landlady eventually had them removed. This did not work 100% for a red wasp sting on the face, which led to extensive swelling.

Paper Towel/washcloth (both work)
Instructions: This basically a cure-all for insect bites. I am 13, and babysit my sisters all the time . They are ALWAYS getting stung
by bees, bitten by wasps, or being bitten up by mosquitoes. My mom told me about this remedy, and It has worked on every last bee/flea/mosquito/wasp etc. bite you could imagine.

Okay... here's the recepie.
1- Take your paper towel, fold it into quarters and soak it in water.
2- Ring it out. (But make sure it's still a bit drippy)
3- Get about a teaspoonful of baking soda and pour it onto the paper
towel.
4- Mix it up so it has a 'pasty' look.
5- Place it on the bite/sting, and (if possible) wrap it with
something, so it is pressed onto the bite.

Leave it on about 1/2 an hour for small bites, and leave it on about an
hour for beestings.

**If the person bitten/stung has abnormal swelling, or shows signs of a
serious allergic reaction, call 9-1-1!!

Instructions: Let me say at first that I don't claim that it will work if you are alergic to stings, please take normal precautions! While boating, a friend and myself stopped at a old camp to see what shape it was in. My friend was stung by a red wasp. We were searching for something to put on the sting and all we could find was an old jar of mustard and used it in desperation. Amazingly it worked better than tobacco which was the family remedy we were raised with.Simply apply some regular mustard to the sting as soon as possible. It
will sting quite a bit but leave it until it drys and falls off on its own. It's my theory that it draws the poison out almost immediatly. Several people have doubted this remedy until they used it.My daughter is married to a parametic whose family is all in medical
professions. When she first introduced this remedy to them, they had thier doupts but soon realized that it worked when they tried it.
You will be amazed at how fast the pain and swelling goes away.

If you have been bitten by mosquitos then just put some deodorant on the bites and the itching should stop. My boyfriend's Mom in junior high felt sorry for me because I always get eaten by mosquitos, and this really takes the itch out.

I heard on the news that if you are bitten by a mosquito, to put clear finger nail polish on it. I have been using the method for years. It stops the itching and the swelling will be gone within hours after the polish dries.

When you get stung by a bee or wasp, immediately cut open a small onion and place it on the sting area on and off for about 20 minutes. It will reduce swelling and ease the pain.
