Warm Up

What is served at traditional holiday meals in your country? What U.S. Holiday is coming next?

Introduction

1. Why is Thanksgiving so unique to the U.S.?

Presentation #1

The USA Your Country
Appetizer: Carrot/celery sticks  
Entree: Turkey  
Vegetable side dish:Corn, green beans  
Starches: Yams  
Salads  
Beverages: milk, coffee, tea, eggnog  
Desserts: Pumpkin pie, apple pie, mince meat pie  

Presentation #2

Break students into 5 groups by menu category. Demonstrate web research.

Steps:

1. Launch the internet.

2. Type http://www.butterball.com

3. Practice going into the different web sites.

4. demo a hard copy of what was found.

Practice

Provide time for each group to use the computer and go to the web sites for their menu category. Print a hard copy of their recipe and/or items chosen for the meal. Assign a letter to each group member, then have all the A's, B's, C's...come together to form groups to make a complete meal. Each member of the group writes down the menu and recipes for the meal
