Thanksgiving for Children

Before you begin:
This lesson does not require computers in the classroom.
Introduction:
- Start by reading a literature piece about Thanksgiving
Example "Gracias, the Thanksgiving Turkey" by Joy Cowley or "T is for Thanksgiving
- Discuss prior knowledge of each child's experience with Thanksgiving
dinner
- Teacher can also have children view "Mayflower Voyage" Peanuts
movie
Presentation:
- Highlight facts from printed copy from the web site
- Make a venn diagram on butcher paper or whiteboard. Have
a hard copy for every child so they can copy what you write
Practice:
- Have children discuss what activities children did then and
what they do now
- Discuss other then and now things
